Questions & answers
Personal guidance, support during cravings, and tools that help you take back control — one step at a time.
🌱 Getting started & registration
What is QuitSmokingIL?
QuitSmokingIL is a personal space for building a structured quit journey: choose a path, follow your progress, notice difficult moments, and return to the reason you chose to quit.
Who can create an account?
During sign-up, choose a birth year from 1949 to 2013. The flow continues only when the selected year is within that range.
How do I sign in?
Create an account and sign in with an email address and password. After registration, confirm your email through the link we send you.
Why does registration ask about my habit and reason for quitting?
These details help shape a journey that feels relevant to you, such as showing savings from the price and pace you entered and bringing back your personal reason during hard moments. You can update them later.
Can I go back during registration and correct something?
Yes. The introduction and journey steps include a Back button so you can change a choice before saving. After creating an account, personal details and journeys can also be edited through account settings.
What if I started quitting before I registered?
You can change the quit start time for each journey. The default is the time the journey was created, but after an explicit confirmation you can choose an earlier date and time so the time and savings reflect your reality.
🧭 Quit journeys & products
Which products can I quit through the site?
You can create a journey for cigarettes, vapes or e-cigarettes, rolling tobacco, heated tobacco, hookah, cigars, and other smoking products. Choose what matches your personal habit.
How do I add another quit journey?
Open Account or Settings, choose Add journey, then enter the product, amount, cost, and purchase frequency. You can create every journey that fits you at no cost.
Can I change or remove something I am quitting?
Yes. In personal details or journey settings you can edit a product and its data, add a journey, or remove a journey that is no longer relevant. Removing affects only the selected journey.
Why do I need to enter daily amount, cost, and purchase frequency?
These details make it possible to estimate your spending and savings personally. For example, someone who buys more than once a day can enter a matching frequency instead of relying on a generic average.
How do I enter a vape or e-cigarette habit?
Choose Vape or e-cigarette and enter an estimated number of puffs per day, the cost of a vape or refill, and how often you buy it. The goal is personal relevance, not perfect precision.
What is the “everything” journey?
The “everything” journey is for people who want to focus on stopping several smoking types together. The selection screen shows whether it is available in your plan; you can also create separate journeys to track each habit independently.
💬 Daily support & check-ins
What is a check-in?
A check-in is a short pause where you choose or write how your day is going. It helps you notice connections between mood, triggers, and progress without judging yourself.
Do I have to answer every check-in?
No. A check-in is a tool you choose to use, not a test. You can skip it, return later, or answer with one short sentence when you do not have energy to expand.
Why are there mood options in a check-in?
A quick mood choice can help even on a busy day. Over time it lets you notice which situations are connected to cravings, and you can add a free-text explanation if you want.
How do personal tips change?
Tips rotate over time and aim to reflect your journeys, personal reason, and reports. They are meant to refresh your thinking; they are not medical care or a promise of a result.
What can I do when a craving is strong right now?
Try one small immediate step: move away from the product, drink water, breathe slowly, step outside for a few minutes, or message someone you trust. Then you can open a check-in and write what is happening.
Does daily support replace professional treatment?
No. The site offers tracking, encouragement, and organization tools, but it does not replace diagnosis, treatment, or urgent help. If there is danger, severe distress, or a medical question, contact a professional or local emergency services.
What sources support the public guides?
The guides are written specifically for QuitSmokingIL in plain language. Each public guide includes links for further reading from official bodies such as WHO, CDC, and the NHS. Those links are for deeper learning only; they are not a personal diagnosis, treatment plan, or substitute for professional advice.
🫶 Slips & history
What happens when I tap “I slipped”?
A short report opens where you can choose the journey, time, amount, reason, and feeling. After saving, you see an encouraging response and a practical tip meant to help you return to the next step without shame.
Does a slip erase all my progress?
No. Reporting a slip is meant to record what happened and learn from it; it does not define who you are and does not erase the effort you have already made. You can choose how to continue from here.
Why is it useful to describe the reason and feeling after a slip?
A short description can turn a vague moment into useful information: perhaps it was stress, a place, a conversation, or a routine. In history, the tip you received appears under the reason so it is easy to revisit.
Where can I see all slip reports?
The “My slips” page shows reports by time, journey, reason, and received tip. You can use them to notice patterns and plan what to do next time.
Can I delete one report or all slip history?
Yes. On the history page you can select specific reports to delete or delete the full history after confirmation. Deletion cannot be undone, so review your choice before confirming.
Who can see my slip reports?
Reports belong to your account and are kept in our protected systems and databases. Operational access, when needed, is restricted to authorized people under the access policy.
⏰ Reminders & messages
How do I choose a reminder time?
Open Account & Settings, choose Reminders, and save the time you want. The time is shown in your device’s local format, so there is no need to use AM or PM.
Why did I not receive a reminder?
Check that the time was saved and that notifications are allowed for the app or browser on your device. Battery-saving mode, a weak connection, or system restrictions can also delay or block a notification.
Can I change how long messages stay on screen?
Yes. In Settings you can choose a display duration that fits your reading pace. The preference applies to supported interface messages, not messages that must remain until you choose an action.
What are system messages or popups on the site?
These are short messages about an update, a new feature, or an account action. They may appear according to publishing settings and include a clear way to close them when possible.
Can I stop or change notifications?
Yes. You can change the reminder time in Settings and manage notification permission through your device or browser settings. Turning permission off on the device may stop all notifications from the service.
📈 Progress & savings
How are savings calculated and why do they update every second?
The system uses the cost, amount, and purchase frequency you entered to estimate your spending pace, then shows savings since the journey started. Continuous updates are meant to show progress in real time.
Why are savings shown with two decimal places?
The internal calculation can change at any moment, but the display is rounded to two decimal places so it stays readable and clear, for example ₪42.35 instead of a long number.
Why do my savings stay at zero or look incorrect?
Check that each journey has an amount, cost, purchase frequency, and correct quit start time. After changing data, the calculation uses the new values; if the issue continues, try refreshing the page.
What does “Exact time” show?
The detailed screen breaks the journey duration into years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Units that have not yet passed are not shown so the screen stays focused and clean.
I have more than one journey — how do I see them all?
The home screen shows a separate journey card for each active journey, with its own time and savings. This lets you view each habit independently and see the overall picture through the journeys list.
Is the savings amount a financial guarantee?
No. It is a personal estimate based on the details you entered, so it is for tracking and motivation only. Real prices and pace can change, and you can update them in the journey at any time.
🌍 Reviews, language & community
Where can I see reviews?
On the home page and in the reviews area, you can browse community reviews. The carousel changes automatically, and you can also navigate manually to read at your own pace.
How do I write a review?
Sign in, open the reviews area, write about your experience, and choose whether you consent to public display. You can also save a review without displaying it on the site.
What does consent to display a review mean?
Consent allows the text you wrote to appear on the site with the details the interface specifies, such as first name, country, and photo if one exists. Without consent, the review is stored privately.
In which language are reviews shown?
The interface shows reviews in the language selected on the site when a translation is available. The writer’s name, flag, and country remain part of the public identity they chose to share.
How do I change the site language?
You can choose עברית, English, Русский, or العربية on the first screen or in account settings. After choosing and saving, the supported interface should update to your chosen language and keep it for your next visit.
Why do I choose a country when creating an account?
Choosing a country helps shape the community experience and the public details of a review if you consented to it. It does not replace language; language is selected separately.
🛡️ Account, privacy & security
How is my information kept and protected?
Information related to your account and use is kept in our protected systems and databases, according to the service’s access settings. We avoid showing personal details publicly without an appropriate choice or consent.
Who can view account information?
Normally, you see your own account details and journeys. Operational access is limited to authorized people when needed for service operation, security, or support and in line with the access policy.
How do I change my email or password?
Open Account & Settings and choose Change email or Change password. A sensitive change may require verification through a secure link or signing in again to reduce the risk of an unauthorized change.
What should I do if I forgot my password?
On the sign-in screen, select “Forgot password,” enter your email address, and follow the link that is sent. The new-password screen is separate from your account to keep the recovery process clearer.
Is a profile photo required?
No. You can add a photo during registration or later, and you can also skip it. If you choose to show a public review, the interface explains whether an existing photo may appear with it.
How do I delete an account?
Open Account & Settings, choose “Delete account,” and confirm the action on the dedicated screen. Deletion is sensitive and permanent. A restricted account shows exactly two choices: submit an appeal or delete the account.
🧩 Guide, accessibility & help
Where is the full user guide?
Open the “User guide” from the three-line menu or the help area. It explains how to create a journey, update details, use check-ins, report a slip, and manage reminders.
How do I return to the home page or previous page?
Every supported page includes navigation back to the previous page and home, and the three-line menu also has a Home button. If a profile menu is open, tapping outside it should close it.
Can I use the site on both phone and computer?
Yes. The interface is designed for small and large screens, and your account lets you continue from the same place after signing in. On some devices you can also add the site to your home screen for an app-like experience.
Which accessibility options are available?
The site aims to keep text readable, buttons clear, writing direction appropriate to the language, and navigation consistent. You can also use your device’s text-size and accessibility settings; we welcome reports of difficulties you find.
What should I do if something on the site does not work?
Try refreshing the page, checking your internet connection, and signing in again. If the issue remains, note what happened, which screen you were on, and which device you used, then send it through the support channel shown on the site.
What should I do if I am in distress or danger?
Do not stay alone with it. Contact someone close to you, an appropriate professional, or local emergency services immediately. QuitSmokingIL is not an emergency service and does not replace professional medical or mental-health care.
🔒 Privacy & security
What is on the Privacy & Security page?
The page brings together a plain-language explanation of the types of information used, who may have operational access, account choices, and steps you can take to protect your account. It is for clear reading, not legal advice.
How can I protect my account?
Choose a unique password you do not use elsewhere, do not share reset links or verification codes, and sign out on a shared computer. If something looks unusual, change your password and review account details.
How do I stay in control of a public review?
Before submitting, explicitly choose whether to allow display on the site. Read the text and details shown next to it before giving consent, and choose a private review if you do not want it public.
Can the privacy explanation be updated?
Yes. As the service develops, the Privacy & Security page may be updated to reflect new features or processes. It is a good idea to review it from time to time, especially before using a new feature.
Is the privacy page legal advice?
No. It is written to explain the product in plain language. For a personal legal question or a need to understand rights in your place of residence, consider contacting an appropriate professional.
What should I do if I have a privacy or security question?
First review the Privacy & Security page and account settings. If the question remains, use the support channel shown on the site and do not send a password, verification code, or payment details in a message.
📱 Using the site & app
What should I do right after opening an account?
Complete one real journey: choose the product, enter amount, cost, and frequency, write your personal reason, and set a reminder time if it helps. Then return home to see your journey begin.
Why does my reason for quitting appear on the home screen?
Your personal reason is a reminder of what you chose for yourself, especially when a craving pulls in another direction. You can update it in Settings when your goal or wording changes.
Why should my information not reset after a refresh?
After saving and signing in, account details and journeys are kept in our protected systems and databases and associated with your account. A refresh may show a brief loading screen, but it should not erase saved choices.
When should I sign out?
If you used a shared or public device, sign out when you finish through the profile menu. On a personal device you may stay signed in for convenience as long as the device is protected in a way that works for you.
Is there a difference between the site and app?
The same account is intended to continue your journey across supported interfaces. Some capabilities, such as device notifications, can depend on permissions and the operating system of your phone or computer.
What is in the three-line menu and profile menu?
The three-line menu is for general navigation: Home, About, quit guides, help, reviews, the user guide, and questions & answers. The profile menu is only for personal items: Account & Settings, personal details, my journeys, slip-up history, privacy, project information, and sign out. Only one menu can be open at a time.
🌿 Free access & support
Do I need a membership or payment?
No. Every QuitSmokingIL tool is open without a paid membership. AI chat has a fair-use daily limit so it remains available to everyone.
Are there ads on the site?
Ads will run only after AdSense approval and consent requirements are complete. They will not appear on sensitive personal screens such as journeys, lapses, or chat.
Can I support the project?
Yes. You may voluntarily support the project through its support page. Contributions are for maintenance and continued development, and are not a purchase, membership, or special benefit.
